St. John’s Living Center – Creation of “Joy Connections”
In February of this year, St. John’s Living Center kicked off our new “Joy Connections” event. Each resident has been paired with a staff member with the goal of making joy connections each week. A minimum of fifteen minutes each week is spent together participating in a hobby of the pair’s choosing such as painting, going for walks, pet visits, having coffee, or just “hanging out.” Spontaneous engagement can help combat the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom, further enriching the lives of not only our residents but also the people that work in our community.
