New Eligibility Look-Up Tool: You Can Now Lookup More Than One NPI At A Time

You asked and CMS listened! CMS just announced the activation of a new Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) resource to help clinics determine MIPS-eligible clinicians within their practice.
The original MIPS Participation Status NPI Look-up tool, https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup, is great, but can be very time consuming for a large practice to use. Having to input every National Provider Identifier (NPI) within the group to check for MIPS-eligibility status can be tedious and burdensome. When this was brought to the attention of CMS, they listened, and developed a new tool to ease the stress of eligibility determination for practices.
Practices can now look up ALL MIPS-eligible clinicians without having to enter each NPI individually! You can now sign into the CMS portal, https://qpp.cms.gov/login, using your Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) account information, like you did while reporting MIPS for 2017. Once in you can view all eligible clinicians under the TIN(s) associated with the EIDM account.
On the landing screen there are two ways to view the MIPS-eligibility information. On the left-hand side of the screen, in the navigation box, there is an eligibility link that can be clicked and there is also a View Eligibility button in the middle of the home screen. Both routes get you to the same information.
It is important to note that if you want to see 2017 eligibility information you will have to use the NPI look-up tool. The new functionality in the CMS portal will only have 2018 eligibility information at this time. You can watch a short video on accessing the new eligibility resource here:
