MIPS: Dates to Know for 2017
November 23, 2016
Written by Sarah Leake
January 1, 2017 – This is the starting date of the Quality Payment program (QPP). If you are ready to participate for a full year of reporting, you can begin collecting your performance data starting on January 1.
June 30, 2017 – Clinician groups, who will use the CMS Web Interface as a reporting method, must register by June 30, 2017. Groups who are using other methods (EHR, QCDR, or Registry reporting) will not need to register for GPRO in advance. This is a significant change from PQRS and allows you more opportunity to evaluate whether individual or group reporting is best for your practice.
October 2, 2017 – If you are not prepared to report a full year of performance data, you can choose to start anytime between January 1 and October 2. October 2 is the last day to start and still meet the 90-day reporting for the partial reporting option.
December 31, 2017 – The performance period for all reporting options for 2017 closes on December 31, 2017.
March 31, 2018*– All performance data for 2017 must be reported by March 31, 2018.
January 1, 2019 – The first payment adjustments based on 2017 performance in the Quality Payment Program will go into effect January 1, 2019.
* You will want to review the option, quality measures and the Improvement Activities you will be performing to determine if there are additional time frames involved as well as other related important dates and deadlines.
